San Francisco Holiday Shopping in Presidio Heights, Wednesday Evening, November 16th on Sacramento

Preparing for any large celebration, I always think to go first and foremost to Sue Fisher King on Sacramento Street. Table linens, centerpieces, candles and even place cards can be found here. I did today. For not being a cook, I can't believe I'm preparing to serve 18 for Thanksgiving. At least my table will look stunning. Combining three banquet tables into one long table is always fun but a challenge. Sue Fisher King always helps me pull it off.

While in her shop this morning, I learned about an event this Wednesday worth sharing with our local Rugged Elegance community.

The event will take place this Wednesday evening from 6 - 9 pm on the east end of Presidio Heights.

The Merchants of Sacramento Street hope to celebrate "the warmth and congeniality of the winter season" with us!

Shopping, bubbly and hors d'oeuvres will be served at sixteen boutiques on Sacramento.

Sue Fisher King - Whether I'm hosting Thanksgiving or a Holiday feast of any kind, Sue Fisher King is the always the stop I make first to prepare my tables.

At Christmas, any white box with Sue's signature "K" on it tied with her silk ribbon is sure to be a winner.

If you're looking for table linens, glasses, silverware, Astier dishes, unique centerpieces, scented or perfume candles (including San Francisco's own Agraria), Venetian lighting or glass mirrors, bedding, pillows, frames, jewelry or leather accessories, this is the place to find them.

(By the way, Sue and I are not related. We just share good taste. She finds fabulous treasures in Italy or France or San Francisco, and I buy them.)

Maison de Belles Choses - I found a French antique headboard here for my daughters' bedroom, as well as some of the most charming raincoats for my two girls and my three nieces. Their taste is exquisite. They also have a delightful collection of housewares and gift items for the home.

tre balm - Make an appointment for a facial before 6 pm at Tre Balm and you'll feel refreshed for the rest of the evening. Tracy Cook offers two lines of make-up. She's got seven top-of-the-line skincare lines for women and men -- including Molton Brown and KENMEN -- as well as perfumes, home fragrances, jewelry, handbags and unusual gift items. Last Christmas, I purchased suede baseballs on a patch of astro turf for all the Boston Red Sox fans in my family.

Aedicule - If you want to do your investment in art justice go to Aedicule for all your framing needs. I've been saving my pennies for years to replace the large mirror above my stove with an Aedicule-framed mirror.

Haute Home - Those who appreciate the finer things in life will appreciate the attention to detail that Haute Home offers in their linen fabrics. Custom monogrammed hand-towels (that won't break the bank) and delicious nightgowns for mothers and daughters are two of my favorite items.

Forrest Jones - Every time I have a party I start at Sue Fisher King and end up the block at Forest Jones. Kitchen wares are the primary name of their game. They have a terrific selection of cocktail and powder room napkins, as well as dish towels. If it's an accessory that belongs in the kitchen, you can probably find it here. They also have a wonderful selection of baskets, lampshades and welcome mats.

Isgro & Co. - I'll never forget looking at our RuggedElegance.com Web traffic one day and discovering that someone was looking for Czechoslovakia chandeliers. They found out that Isgro carried them, and then some.

If you're looking for unusual lighting, this is the place to come. If you own or are refurbishing a San Francisco Victorian this is a "must stop" along your shopping trail.

Beautiful Orchids - When Beautiful Orchids moved from California Street near Pacific Heights to the heart of Presidio Heights on Sacramento Street they must have quadrupled their space. Not only do they showcase and sell the most exquisite orchids, with their additional space, they have added artwork and antiques as part of their offering. There is nothing better than presenting a live plant as a gift. You can, no, you will find it here!
"Opulent" Attire by Meli Meli Available at Pumpkin
Pumpkin - I'm sorry, this is not where you get your pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.

Pumpkin is fun, fashionable, upscale attire, shoes and accessories for babes -- both big and small. Owner Alanna Klein calls them "Hip Clothes for Cool Babes". We agree!

I love every single line of children's clothing available at Alanna Klein's unique boutique. My girls squeal with delight when I take them here. I just wish they weren't growing up so quickly. The largest collection are for newborns and toddlers. After age 12, you'll have to go further down the street to Dottie Doolittle for success. But if something comes in that Alanna knows your kids will like, she'll be happy to give you a call.

Meli Meli, pronounced Mel-ee Mel-ee, is a must see line for all us "rugged elegant" moms who want to dress their kids in style. The only merchant in San Francisco that carries Meli Meli is Yountville on Fillmore Street in Pacific Heights.

Stores will be staying open on 11.16 until 9pm. The bubbly comes out beginning at 6.

Reports are surfacing that a close friend of Paris Hilton’s boyfriend Stavros Niarchos has accused the heir-head of using racial insults against him, tagging him a “lazy Mexican.”

Brian Quintana, an L.A. events promoter, served Hilton’s attorney with a “cease and desist” order, and has also applied for a restraining order against the socialite.

Reportedly, in legal papers Quintana said Hilton has bombarded him with threatening phone calls threatening to destroy his friendship with Niarchos. Quintana also alleges that Hilton has a drug problem. He reportedly played a recorded phone conversation to a newspaper in which a female he claims to be Hilton, screams obscenities and insists that Quintana is a pathetic loser.
