Rugged Elegant Places of Taste in San Francisco: The Most Searched Keywords That Led People to 'RuggedElegance.com' This Spring

Rugged.Elegant.SF.Map.small.jpg Rugged Elegance San Francisco Aerial Map

San Francisco is one of the world's foremost destinations.

For two years, Rugged Elegance has profiled Select Establishments we call "Places of Taste."

This past year, I've wanted to take the time to analyze at least two months worth of Rugged Elegant Living and RuggedElegance.com traffic data and share the most popular Google and Yahoo keyword search results with our global "rugged elegant" community.

Those who either live in San Francisco or those outside of our great city, who are searching for the best places to experience, have "googled" thousands of hotels, restaurants, shops and services. A select few have landed at RuggedElegance.com where we have created a Web profile for many of our favorite "rugged elegant" establishments.

We are both intrigued and delighted with the results of the world's online searching.

We think you will be also!

A few "Places of Taste" we would call San Francisco favorites that people should be searching for this summer and anytime are:

Bamboo Salon - the best manicure and pedicure in town

Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic - a girls favorite bedding and a mom's favorite furnishings

The girls would be my two daughters who were "outfitted" this spring with new bedding from Shabby Chic.

The mom would be me. From home furnishings to bedding to candles to inspirational books, Rachel Ashwell's creations make any house a home.

As I am about to post this story, Tim has walked in with my favorite latte from Peet's Coffee & Tea. We used to stop at the Peet's on Fillmore after taking the girls to school. Now, we have switched primarily to Noni Juice and Green Tea and have been running or rollerblading every morning this spring. This morning, I elected to focus on work and last day of school gifts for teachers. I'm sure Tim stole away to The Peet's on Chestnut after his rollerblade ride. Lucky me!

If you are looking for beautiful flower arrangements with a twist or "industrial feminine" gifts look no further than Fleur't.

Jonathan Rachman has created an atelier near the corner of Clement and Arguello that also serves as his floral design shop.

I will be calling their shortly to order flowers for a party I am hosting this Friday.

The San Francisco Restaurant Scene

It took us a year to finally get a reservation at Quince. We are such spontaneous people. I treated Tim for an intimate birthday dinner in May. Now, I am looking for every excuse to go back -- even if we have to wait two weeks to get in.

Another favorite restaurant is Michael Mina at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in Union Square.

This is the famous San Francisco "place of taste" that tennis-great and Northern California resident Andre Agassi co-owns with Mina.

We were sad to lose the Compass Rose, a former landmark in San Francisco. However, Michael has done a magnificent job creating an "at home in your own luxurious dining room" setting.

Mina, himself, is as unpretentious as they come.

His trio of foods are to die-for -- from the appetizers he serves to the delectable desserts. Save your pennies! It's so worth it.

Every single establishment in The Ferry Building deserves to be profiled in RuggedElegance.com. Located in The Financial District along The Embarcadero, The Financial District is one of the best excursions to take kids, out-of-town guests and anyone who loves food. The fresh blueberries alone (which last two weeks in your frig) are worth the trip.

This summer, we will finally broaden the Select Establishments we profile online. Look for hotels, restaurants, shops, services and "rugged elegant" people outside of San Francisco featured in RuggedElegance.com.

We will be in search of "places of taste" located in Portland Oregon, Portland, Kennebunkport and Wells Maine, Boston Massachusetts, New York City, Paris France, Barcelona Spain, Copenhagen Denmark and Stockholm Sweden -- to name a few destinations.

Nominations from around-the-globe are being accepted now.

Inspire & Be Inspired.

Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful, "experiencing the best our city has to offer" living!
