One of our favorite French restaurants, Bistro Clovis, was recently reviewed by Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chonicle.

We've always enjoyed the homey Gallic charm of Bistro Clovis, which serves excellent French cuisine while avoiding pretense. Here's what Michael Bauer had to say in his review

When you tuck into Bistro Clovis' slightly firm and puffy lobster quenelles ($8.90), practically floating in a cinnamon-colored lobster sauce with a half moon of puff pastry on top, it feels like something you'd find in brasseries that line the side streets of Paris.

That's how an entire meal will feel at this perennial Civic Center favorite. It's been in business for 17 years and is currently undergoing expansion that, when finished this fall, will result in the doubling of the 50- seat dining room and setting up of tables outside.

Everything about the place exudes a Gallic aura: lace cafe curtains with subtle roosters parading across the bottom of the plate-glass window, straight- back cane chairs, the bell-shaped light fixtures hanging from the impossibly high ceiling, and a vintage wood bar with an etched glass partition.
