Book Passage, located in the San Francisco Ferry Building, will host President Bill Clinton for a book signing on Monday, June 28 at 2:30 p.m.
On Monday, June 28th, the Book Passage store in the San Francisco Ferry Building will hold San Francisco's only book-signing event. Only one book will be signed by the President per person. Books are on sale beginning today at both the San Francisco and Corte Madera stores.
Based on demand (In just five days, we have already sold 291 copies through RuggedElegantLiving.com), we strongly urge Book Passage customers to get their books in advance to avoid lines at our Ferry Building store on the day of the event.
Each book will have a numbered ticket. Customers will be called up in groups to meet the President according to their number.
Since the tickets are numbered, you shouldn’t have to wait in long lines and can enjoy instead the culinary delights of the Ferry Building.
If you’re coming from Marin, we suggest you take the Golden Gate Ferry. The 12:10 or 12:55 out of Larkspur should give you plenty of time if you already have your book.
Book Passage is hopeful that President Clinton will be able to sign as many books as possible. But it is likely that only those who are actually present at the event will get their books signed.
If you cannot attend but would still like an autographed copy, Book Passage will be happy to take your name and credit card information and only charge you for the book if they are successful in getting a signed copy for you.
Everyone purchasing a copy of My Life will get a coupon entitling them to a one-time, 15% discount on the purchase of any book or books at either Book Passage store from June 29 through July 31.
This is a great way to stock up on your Summer reading.
For this special event, you call 415.927.0960, ext 239 to place your order.
If you purchase it now you can pick it up today (at the store where you placed your order), or anytime after that so that you will have it in time for the event.

President Clinton's new book, "My Life," went on sale last night at 12:01 am.
Books Inc. on California Street in Laurel Village purchased 130 copies to start. Before Clinton's book went on sale at 9am this morning, 57 copies had already been pre-ordered.
Not quite the Harry Potter mania that had us dressing in costume and showing up at the bookstore at midnight when it opened to sell the fifth book last summer.
Books Inc. on Chestnut Street in The Marina also pre-ordered approximately 200 books.
Like Book Passage, Books Inc. is charging the full retail price of $35.
About The Book
Publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, reportedly paid Clinton a $10 million advance to write his memoir. 1.5 million copies were printed in the first press run, which falls short of the 2 million advance orders placed. The 900-page story recounts his life as a child in Arkansas to his two-term presidency in the White House.
The book starts out:
Early on the morning of August 19, 1946, I was born under a clear sky after a violent summer storm to a widowed mother in the Julia Chester Hospital in Hope, a town of about six thousand in southwest Arkansas, thirty-three miles east of the Texas border at Texarkana. My mother named me William Jefferson Blythe III after my father, William Jefferson Blythe Jr., one of nine children of a poor farmer in Sherman, Texas, who died when my father was seventeen. According to his sisters, my father always tried to take care of them, and he grew up to be a handsome, hardworking, fun-loving man. He met my mother at Tri-State Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1943, when she was training to be a nurse. Many times when I was growing up, I asked Mother to tell me the story of their meeting, courting, and marriage. He brought a date with some kind of medical emergency into the ward where she was working, and they talked and flirted while the other woman was being treated. On his way out of the hospital, he touched the finger on which she was wearing her boyfriend's ring and asked her if she was married. She stammered "no"—she was single. The next day he sent the other woman flowers and her heart sank. Then he called Mother for a date, explaining that he always sent flowers when he ended a relationship.
From his 1946 birth to 1976, when Clinton won his first political race by becoming Attorney General of Arkansas, to the time he left the Oval Office at the young age of 53, My Life is the story of the 42nd President of the Unites States.
