The City of San Francisco Proclaims The Month of May "ArtSFest 2004 Month"
A creative group out of Marin is out to make San Francisco into the mecca of the arts community just as New Orleans has turned their city into a mecca for jazz music. On Tuesday, May 4th, at the steps of City Hall, ArtSFest, Inc. founder and Executive Director, Brad Nye will reveal the names of 100 organizations selected to participate in ArtSFest 2004. The inaugural fortnight celebration of performers, musicians, dancers, artists and other creative professionals will take place in various locations throughout the city from May 13-31.
"In San Francisco we are fortunate to have an enormous pool of artistic talent," said Nye. "We want everyone to dive in and celebrate creativity."
ArtSFest 2004 is designed to delight and spark the senses, filling the streets and venues of San Francisco for two art-charged weeks each year.
San Francisco Entertainment Commission President, Terrance Alan is expected to attend the official launch of the inaugural ArtSFest 2004 "Celebrations of the Arts" scheduled for May 4th from 11:30am-noon. He, Nye and this year's select community of entertainers and artists will gather with props, instruments and in costume. Their stage will be set at the east entrance of City Hall on Dr. Goodlett Place and Polk Street.
ArtSFest 2004 Executive Board
Also present will be ArtSFest Executive Board Members, Deirdre Campbell, Heather Dunn, Amisha Gandhi, Christine Herron, Donna Coxon-McCory, Alan Segal, Dick Hackenberg and Richard Felix, who is both an Executive Board Member and ArtSFest's Programming Director.
"May is officially proclaimed ArtSFest 2004 Month", said Terrance Alan. "The 'Entertainment Revolution in San Francisco' gets a jump start with ArtSFest 2004, and we are grateful to the wide array of performers and artists participating in this year's event."
ArtSFest Founder Brad Nye & SF Entertainment Commissioner Terrance Alan
The mission of ArtSFest, Inc., producer of ArtSFest 2004, is to celebrate, market and advance the arts so that the entire local arts and entertainment community shines brightly, making the San Francisco Bay Area the preferred arts and entertainment destination in the U.S.
"Rugged Elegance is proud to be selected among the 100 multi-genre art organizations in this year's Celebration of the Arts in San Francisco," said Timothy Charles Fredel, Co-Producer of the award-winning Rugged Elegance San Francisco aerial print that was illustrated and designed by local artist, Samuel Leshnick.
This map was created to promote our city's landmarks and timeless treasures. It also serves to build the Rugged Elegance "Places of Taste" brand which is defined by a collection of Rugged Elegance Companion neighborhood by neighborhood guides, postcards, and RuggedElegance.com web site.
The map also serves as the artwork used for the Rugged Elegance Companion...Places of Taste Hidden Treasures guide.
"Fredel added, "And it is our goal to turn the map into the art icon for all "rugged elegant" luxury real estate properties for sale in San Francisco. To launch this effort, Pacific Union selected Rugged Elegance to help market The Hills Residence on Broadway.
A public signing of the aerial maps will take place at a time and venue during ArtSFest yet to be determined. The location will be reported in RE: San Francisco at RuggedElegantLiving.com/SF
All the color, excitement and creativity of the Bay Area arts community will be on display at the May 4th announcement, where many of ArtSFest 2004's presenting arts organizations will be available for photographs by the press.
One of the goals of ArtSFest 2004 organizers is to launch a mainstream event in the Bay Area that will add to the cultural history of the region, just like Bay to Breakers, the San Francisco International Film Festival, Burning Man, the Black and White Ball and other San Francisco cultural institutions.
We hope you will join The President of San Francisco's Entertainment Commissioner, ArtSFest Creator & Executive Director, Brad Nye, his volunteer Executive Board, and more than 60 Arts Presenters who will represent the arts across the San Francisco Bay Area for two-and-half art charged weeks.
Please also consider attending the ArtSFest 2004 SPECTRA BALL on May 13th at Mezzanine (444 Jessie Street, San Francisco). Tickets start at $25. Performances by: Xeno, Velocity Circus, Loco Bloco, Printz Dance Project, Golden Gate Opera, Somei Yoshino Taiko Ensemble, Alcyone Music, Felonious, DJ SoulSalaam and others. This multi-cultural gala affair celebrating the Bay Area arts and benefiting ArtSFest 2004 will not be your ordinary costume ball.
Non-stop entertainment will be provided along with interactive art installations, food, drinks and an unmatched sensory experience that will match the Black and White Ball only in color.
