What's Black & White with Four-Ears? A Real, Live German Kitten In Huge Demand

Four-eared German Kitchen.jpg
Four-Eared Kitten from Southern Germany

The better to hear you with my dear! Do you suppose a kitten with four ears has twice the keen hearing as a cat with two ears? The animal shelter she came from says not. One thing is for sure...this kitten was in high demand in Murnau, southern Germany where she was adopted, yesterday.

Lilly is an energetic, loving and well-adjusted kitten. Six months ago, she was born with two "normal" ears and behind them, two smaller, non-hearing ears. Last week, she was given to the shelter because the family had more cats than they could care for.

The shelter was deluged with interested parties who wanted to adopt the kitten. Reuters, which reported the kitten's search for a home on Wednesday, also received numerous offers from readers around the world eager to adopt her or interested in making donations to the shelter.

In the end, the shelter chose a family that was not caught up in wanting to "exhibit" the kitten. Enrico Schlag, a worker at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen animal shelter, said on Thursday, "We've found a completely normal family for her that has already adopted cats from us in the past."

Some might claim this kitten is freaky or a "mutant." However, her new family think she's purrfect!
