Matt Rogers
The votes have been cast. The results are in. New records have been broken. Fox had 19.5 million people call in last night with their Number One choice for American Idol #3.
To kick off the thirty minute show, Kimberly Locke performed a song from her upcoming album.
"Amazing," as Paula says, "Bad Girl" as Randy says, Kimberly Locke proved that the Number One and even the Number Two Idol of last season can share the big stage as the third most favorite Idol from American Idol 2.
Kimberly announced last night that she will release her first album on May 4th called "One Love."
Ryan Seacrest has a tough job. Announcing the winners and the loser of the week would not be fun.
Last night, after 19.5 votes were cast last night by the American public, Seacrest announced that:
John Stevens is safe.
We will see more of Fantasia Barrino next week.
Checking his pulse, Matt Rogers learned that he ended up in the Bottom Three for the week.
America wants more La Toya London.
America feels George Huff's connection; he's safe.
After the nationwide vote, Jasmine Trias is safe.
Jon Peter Lewis is going to be back in action next week.
America voted and agreed with Randy's assessment; Jennifer Hudson is safe.
Between Diana DeGarmo and Amy Adams, Diana ended up in the Bottom Three tonight.
She joined Matt Rogers and Camile Velasco.
Of the three, Paula was most surprised that Diana ended up pulled out. Paula was right on the money when she said "All three of you should be proud of yourself. You've all come a long way." However, Ryan sent her back with the other nine; she is safe.
Camile took 10th place, but is also safe. So, both of the Hawaiian beauties will be back.
Matt Rogers, however, is not. This morning, one little eight year old woke up with a broken heart.
Actually, at 11:15pm she couldn't sleep; she just had to find out who is "out." Her reaction: "Tragic."
Ryan was gracious to say "It's been great hanging out with you, man."
Proving what a great showman Matthew Rogers is, he bid adieu by singing "Amazed," the song he chose for the week. He even went as far as to change the lyrics to address the thorn in his side, Simon Cowell.
Just as the Washington Huskies have highlight tapes that they review over and over again, Roger's Swan Song will clearly go down as one of the highlights of this American Idol season.
Randy and Paula's reactions were priceless. Even Simon's face was something to see.
Rogers sang, "Simon when you touch me, I can feel how much you love me. And it just blows me away. I've never been so close to anyone or anything. I can hear you thoughts, I can see your dreams. Every little thing that you do, I'm so in love with you. It just keeps getting better..."
Matt Rogers, if you're listening, you should consider American Idol a stepping stone. You're now free of Simon Cowell's ridicule. You're free to smile. You're free to let your talent shine. You may not want the Idol experience to end. But think of Wednesday, March 24th as the first day you can take all the incredible emotion and talent you have and launch your own singing career -- sooner than you would have if you stuck it out on Idol 3 for another couple of months.
If Will Hung can get a record contract, you should be able to get three.
You are a class act, all the way to the final "note."
