A Rugged Elegance Inspiration Network Exclusive by Jennifer King
On Thursday, March 25, 2004
6-9pm
The Art & Antique Dealers
of historic Jackson Square
cordially invite you to
a luminous evening of champagne, hors d'oeuvres
and fine antiques.
Stroll the lamp-lit streets and view a selection of
exceptional objects, each chosen to represent the
specialty of the dealer displaying it.
Proceeds from this year's Jackson Street Promenade donations will benefit the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco's Objects Conservation Department.
Musicians will be playing in the street. The street itself will be romantically lit. Sixteen shops and galleries are hosting this year's evening event.
Select "Rugged Elegant" Establishments participating in The Promenade include:
Bellecour Antiques, a French antique and floral design store on Columbus at Jackson. Owner and renowned floral designer, Thierry Chantrel will also be opening his new floral studio to the public on this evening.
Chappell & McCullar, an English & Continental Antiques shop,
Dillingham & Company, an English & Continental Antiques shop.
Foster-Gwin Antiques, a shop featuring rare Mediterranean Furniture & Decorative Art.
North Point Gallery, specialists in fine 19th & Early 20th Century American and Early California paintings, including pieces like this 20"x 26" oil on canvas of The Sand Dunes of San Francisco by Amédée Joulin (1862-1917).
Peter Pap Oriental Rugs, a purveyor of fine oriental and tribal rugs.
Rebuffel Antiques, a French and Italian Furniture shop.
Sarah Stocking Fine Vintage Posters, which features American and European vintage posters.
W. Graham Arader III, a unique gallery of antique engravings, maps and lithographs
Bruce Hill, Executive Chef of Bix Supper Club will be serving some of his classic dishes at a prix fixe price of $45. Dinner will include a first course, a main entree and a dessert. Bix has been selected as one of the Top Twelve "Most Rugged Elegant" Establishments in the neighborhood, this year. Tim and I plan to be there early before sharing The Promenade experience with locals Steve and Brenda Bottum and out-of-town guest, T.C. Berryhill.
500 Jackson will also be serving a special prix fixe menu.
If you are able to make it over to Jackson Square before the end of the day, we encourage you to discover some of the other fine establishments in the neighborhood. For example, Prints, Etc. is one of the best framemakers in the country. They have designed a special french mat and antique frame to go with the magnificently illustrated Rugged Elegance San Francisco map created by Samuel Leshnick. These prints are available for $49 at Sarah Stocking Fine Vintage Posters, 431 Jackson (between Hotaling Place and Sansome).
The three-day Art & Antique Dealers Promenade event takes place on Jackson Street between Columbus and Sansome on Thursday evening, as well as Friday, March 26th from 10am-7pm and Saturday, March 27th from 11am-4pm.
A complimentary lecture series will be held on Saturday beginning at 11am. For directions to Jackson Square, a complete list of participants and details regarding the lecture series, please go to: JacksonSquareSF.com
We look forward to seeing you at the Third Annual Jackson Square Promenade.
