The Princess Project 2004 Dress Giveaway - Saturday March 27 & April 3

Princess.Project.Tiffany.Prom.Dresses.jpg

It is not too late to dig into your closet and donate a dress to The Princess Project.

The Princess Project is for Bay Area girls who might not otherwise be able to afford a prom dress.

This year's dresses, accessories and make-up will be given away on Saturday, March 27th and Saturday, April 3rd.

The Princess Project was founded by Kristi Smith Knutson and Laney Whitcanack in February 2002 after a casual conversation with a high school girl from Coro Northern California's Exploring Leadership summer youth program. Wanting to make sure as many girls in the Bay Area would be able to go to their high school prom they tapped their network of friends, asking them to donate their dresses from previous weddings and parties now in their closet collecting dust.

Two years later, schools throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area are pitching in to collect formal gowns and accessories in excellent condition (including purses, jewelry, shawls and wraps) that are appropriate for high school girls to wear to the prom.

Since The Princess Project began, over 1,000 girls have received free dresses and accessories. This year, they plan to serve another 1,000 girls.

The 2004 drop-off drive will be held until March 21st.

For a list of drop-off locations go to: PrincessProject.com

In addition to gowns, The Princess Project is in need of:

• Clothing racks
• Large shopping bags
• Dry cleaning services
• Printing services
• Transportation services to move dresses
• Professional storage services
