San Francisco Jazz Festival Oct 23-Nov 9 Schedule

One of San Francisco's biggest and best musical festivals features local, national and international jazz artist performances at locations throughout San Francisco. The 21st annual event includes a line-up of many renowned musicians at the following events:

October 24 New Sensation: Peter Cincotti with Julian Lage at the Herbst Theatre

October 24 Mavis Staples performs at Grace Cathedral a "Tribute to Mahalia Jackson," her mentor and one of the greatest gospel singers of all time

October 24 & 25 Kronos Quartet: "Sun Rings" at the Palace of Fine Arts. The Bay Area premiere is a major collaboration from the world-renowned Kronos composer, Terry Riley, and NASA that is an audio-visual voyage into the solar system.

October 25 Best of Italy I with Gabriele Mirabassi/Luciano Biondini Duo; Gianluigi Trovesi/Gianni Coscia Duo at the Florence Gould Theatre, Palace of the Legion of Honor

October 25 Latin Divas with Omara Portuondo; Virginia Rodrigues at the Masonic Auditorium.

October 25 From Broadway to the Bay with Ann Hampton Callaway at the Herbst Theatre

October 26 Miss Brown Comes to Town with Ruth Brown and (TBA) at the Herbst Theatre

October 26 The Dave Holland Quintet at the Palace of Fine Arts is a long-running performance by one of the most celebrated artists in jazz today

October 30 Solo Piano II with Cecil Taylor at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre

October 31 Best of Italy II with Enrico Rava & Paolo Fresu "Play Miles Davis"; Doctor 3 at the Herbst Theatrebr> November 1 Best of Italy III with Enrico Rava/Stefano Bollani Duo; Danilo Rea/Roberto Gatto Duo at the Florence Gould Theatre, Palace of the Legion of Honor

November 7 Intercontinental Guitar with Bill Frisell & The Intercontinentals; Marc Ribot y los Cubanos Postizos at the Calvin Simmons Theatre in Oakland

November 7 Marian McPartland in "Piano Jazz...Live!" at the Palace of Fine Arts. The long-awaited Festival debut of this master pianist and host of NPR's show "Piano Jazz" is sure to be a Festival highlight.

November 8 Simple Pleasures with Nancy Wilson & Ramsey Lewis at the Masonic Auditorium

November 9 Swingin' On The Bay with Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers; Swing Fever featuring Denise Perrier on Signature Yacht Events' "San Francicso Spirit" at Pier 9

November 9 Singing on Sunday II with Kitty Margolis at the Florence Gould Theatre, Palace of the Legion of Honor

November 9 The Trio at 20 featuring Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette at the Masonic Auditorium. The renowned trio of pianists representing jazz at its finest and celebrating their 20th year of improvisational sorcery together.
