Cafe Review: Café Madeleine

San Francisco Chronicle:

It doesn't get groovier than this. Cafe Madeleine in Union Square fashionably begs (with the appropriate sprinkle of disinterest) downtown shoppers and hip sales clerks to lunch with the blushing, rouge-lipped, hair-flipped illustration of the It Girl (depicted in the logo, but named after the lemon-flavored pastry) of O'Farrell Street.
Don't loathe her because she's formidable.

Trendy pleasure seekers -- loaded with Bebe, Dior and Neiman Marcus bags -- pursue refreshment and shade from the effervescent sunshine. Dangling with Tod handbags, silver Tiffany's trinkets, contemporary ringlets and protective designer sun shields, Madeleine's amis sit alfresco (so European) sipping a variety of coffee beverages as they plot the remainder of their retail adventures.
