ArtSFest - May 13-31, 2004

ArtSFest 2004

San Francisco is, at heart, a cultural center with deep roots in individualism, diversity, and self-expression that set it apart from others. Since the 1850s, groups as diverse as gold miners, Chinese laborers, beatniks, hippies and gays have all made a place for themselves here. It is home to free spirited artists like Diego Rivera and Frieda Kahlo; the beat poets Alan Ginsberg and Leonard Cohen; Beach Blanket Babylon; music pioneers like Bill Graham, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane; and the culinary genius of Alice Waters. In the last decade, San Francisco gave birth to multimedia and the Burning Man festival, each representing entirely new forms of art and expression, now making an impact around the world.

Developed to celebrate creativity and our unique cultural heritage, ArtSFest 2004 is an annual city-wide, multi-genre arts festival which will fill the streets and venues of San Francisco for two and a half art-charged weeks, May 13-31, 2004.

This one-of-a-kind festival will present a diverse arrary of productions, exhibitions and happenings across 11 artistic genres representing art from the street to the elite of every age, ethnicity, culture and sub-culture across the Bay Area.

Vibrancy in the arts contributes significantly to community image and pride.

Without a sustained commitment to the arts, we may lose San Francisco's heritage of innovation.

A world of diverse creativity has the power to excite and transform our lives and our culture.

Celebrating creativity and artistic expression is at the root of ArSFest 2004.

Rugged Elegance looks forward to having a significent presence prior to and during the festival.

~Jennifer & Tim

I'm an artist who would like to exhibit at the ArtsFest 2004 in San Francisco. I can't find their info on the web anywhere. When I did a search your website came up which is great to know about, but doesn't give me any information on how to attend the event at Mezzanine or other locations. If you know a contact or way to get in touch with them I would greatly appreciate it.
