Internet Radio Makes Bigger Waves

Wired. "Access to niche genres and hometown stations from far away proves appealing: More than 100 million listeners have tried Web radio, with the number of regular monthly users tripling in the last three years, according to March ratings."

"What consumers go online to listen to, and what works best, is content they can't listen to through traditional sources," says Bill Rose, general manager of Arbitron Internet Broadcast Services. "

To find a radio station for your listening pleasure, go to Radio-locator. Here you can find over 2,500 audio streams by zip code or state, by call letter, by format (jazz, news, public radio...), or by other countries. I found a station broadcast by my alma mater, Menlo-Atherton High School. KCEA-89.1 FM has a library of over a thousand albums and compact disc's of the big band era.

P.S. Just went downstairs after posting this story to find Tim listening to the NFL Draft on ESPN Radio. He's doing exactly what he wants with this feed streaming from my laptop in the kitchen. Meanwhile, the girls are getting exactly what they want...breakfast. I knew this progressive guy would one day learn how to multitask!
