JCK's Five-Week Food Diary - Fall 2002

Day Two

5:30 a.m. Ate 1/2 a Apple Cinnamon Zone bar and grabbed my bottle of water. Decided the caffeinated green tea was wigging us out, so we bought some decaffeinated - complete with antioxidants. Hopefully, this will take the edge off.

6-6:50 a.m. Drank a 12 oz. bottle of water. while working out.

What a sky! The pink and orange palette that was on display, albeit for no more than five minutes, is one more enticement to get up early. While most of the world is still asleep we get blessed with little gifts like that one.

That and those Sensee-inspired exercises; right?!

7:30 a.m. Breakfast: 1 cup of slow-cooked Quaker Oats oatmeal, 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 t of brown sugar. 3 hardboiled egg whites for protein. (To get the right combination of carbs, protein and fat for my body-type, I should have eaten 6 eggs - w/out the yolks.)

8:15 a.m. Treated myself to a decaf Peet's latte (my kind of "dessert")

10:30 a.m. Snack: 1 frozen Chocolate Mint Zone bar (another dessert-like treat)

1:30 p.m. Lunch: 3/4 cup plain yogurt mixed with 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt (both low-fat), a pinch of almond slices and 1 handful of green grapes.

3:30 p.m. Apple

6:30 p.m. 5 Egg Omelette (5 whites, 1 egg yolk) with Provolone cheese. 1 slice of whole wheat bread with peanut butter (I should have had the soy butter in the frig but couldn't bring myself to sacrifice the Skippys. Maybe next time.) 1 cup of water.

Other Comments: Upon reflection, I didn't drink anywhere near as much water as I should have, today. Tomorrow I'll plan to carry a bottle around wherever I go to make sure I drink at least eight cups.
