Every year, a national charity called The Tall Ships Youth Trust holds a competition in the world's only Tall Ships. The goal of the match race is aimed at developing life skills for young people through sailing.
Those privileged to compete do so in the Solent waters off the southern England coast near Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
On Tuesday, Reuters photographer Toby Melville captured the 'Stavros S Niarchos' in the two-day, two vessel race.
The other identical, traditional sixty meter brig is called the 'Prince William'.
Nearly 50 years-in-the-making, the Tall Ships Youth Trust remains a world leader in the field of positive youth development.
The Trust is a registered charity founded in 1956 and dedicated to the personal development of young people aged 16 to 25 through the crewing of Tall Ships.
Older "kids" between the ages of 26 - 75 are also invited to participate.
To date, the Trust's ships have sailed 1.5 million nautical miles with over 65,000 trainees on board.
Over 4,000 trainees will sail on Stavros S Niarchos and Prince William this year.
The Trust's goal is to empower kids who become members of the crew.
Those who participate learn to problem solve, communicate ideas and information and negotiate.
Many young people have the desire to take part in such an adventure, but cannot afford a voyage on one of their tall ships.
The Trust needs your support to help them get to sea.
A one day voyage fee for "kids" between the ages of 18-75 is $85.
The cost to participate in the three-day Brig Match Race is $299.
The annual "Tall Ships Youth Trust & Encompass Voyage of Understanding" -- which takes place this year from November 7th - 17th -- costs $599.
