You've heard of a cat napping? And a bear hibernating? So, what do you call a polar bear out in the open snoozing in Central Park?
AP Photographer, Mary Schwalm captured this priceless photo of Gus, a 19-year-old polar bear scratching himself in between naps at the Central Park Zoo. The photograph was taken on Friday, October 21st, 2005 in New York.
This photo was not only the Rugged Elegant Living picture of the day, it was one of the Most Popular shots in Yahoo.com.
Gus is a 700-lb. polar bear whose peculiar behavior has earned him the moniker "Gus the Neurotic Bear."
