This year, HBO has received the most nominations. They received an amazing 93 Emmy nominations.
NBC, ABC and FOX came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place with 54, 51 and 49 nominations.
Three other networks also had double-digit nominations: PBS (23), Showtime (17) and A&E (10).
While the rest of the media is touting the many "Cherry on Top" for Marc Cherry nominations which Desperate Housewives received, and the fifteen nominations to match for Will & Grace, I thought I'd focus on the more obscure, less well-known nominees, in addition to a few of the biggest names in television.

Since their program category became eligible, American Idol has earned fourteen nominations (5 in 2003, 3 in 2004 and 6 in 2005). To-date, the show has yet to win one Emmy.
Hopefully this will be American Idol's big year, as well.
Last year, as you may recall Angels in America received the most Emmys of 2004: 11.
Fraiser received six.
Arrested Development and Carnivale received five.
And The Sopranos and 24 each received four.
A Few Other Fun Emmy Facts
For someone who is in the same business with her husband, it was fun to learn that the following performer husbands and wives have both won Emmys:
Anne Bancroft and Mel Brooks
Bonnie Bartlett and William Daniels
Colleen Dewhurst and George C. Scott
Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt
Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn
Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue
Lynn Whitfield and Brian Gibson
This year, there are two couples who have each been nominated for an Emmy.
They are:
William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman
Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward
The miniseries Empire Falls starring Newman and Woodward garnered 10 nominations for HBO, including dual nods for the legendary husband and wife acting team.
Newman was also nominated for an Emmy Award for his lead role in a 2003 production of Our Town, which was directed by James Naughton, came out on DVD on February 22nd 2005.
Thank you Louise Danton and all of those in the academy's Awards Department for these "entertaining" facts.
