Inside Your Heaven debuted at No. 1 on four Billboard charts after its release. They include the Billboard Hot 100, the Pop 100, singles sales and country singles sales.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old made Billboard history as the first country artist to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
It is the first time a country song has hit No. 1 since Lonestar's Amazed in 2000.
According to Billboard.com:
Underwood is only the third artist to bow in the top slot since chart policy changed in 1998 to allow airplay-only tracks on the Hot 100, a move that made it much harder for any title to debut at No. 1.
And it's a feat only "Idol" contestants have been able to achieve with largely sales-driven success. Underwood's triumph follows in the footsteps of second season runner-up Clay Aiken's This Is The Night in 2003 and third-season winner Fantasia I Believe in 2004.

On idolonfox.com, 30,996,141 have taken part in an online poll, which asks fans to vote for their favorite part of the American Idol IV finale. 66% selected "Carrie Singing Inside Your Heaven." The second favorite finale moment was watching Bo perform with Lynyrd Skynyrd. The two other choices: The Beach Boys Medley and The David Hasselhoff Moment have not even earned one percent of the 30 million votes.
Carrie said in a statement:
My dreams continue to come true.
Thanks to the fans for voting me as their Idol and for wanting to hear - and have - my music.
Underwood is working on her debut album, which is due out this fall.
Carrie has signed to Arista Records with legendary music man Clive Davis, Chairman of BMG U.S., in conjunction with Simon Fuller and 19 Recordings Limited.
She is also rehearsing for the American Idol Top Ten Live Tour, which starts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on July 12th and ends in Syracuse, New York on September 10th.
Tim and I and the girls will be flying all the way to Manchester, New Hampshire to hear them perform on July 31st.

Carrie Underwood's rendition is currently going head-to-head with American Idol runner-up Bo Bice's version of Inside Your Heaven.
However, with Bice's CD -- which is priced the same as Carrie's -- customers get Vehicle rather than Independence Day.
Bo's rendition was released on June 21st.
While Carrie has sold more CDs thus far, her single is currently ranked #8 within Amazon, whereas Bo's is ranked #3 in Music. Coldplay's new CD, X&Y is ranked #1. White Stripes' Get Behind Me Satan is ranked #2 before Bice.
At the time of publication, first "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson's phenomenal Breakaway is right behind Carrie in the #9 slot.
However, on Billboard's Adult Contemporary list, Clarkson's "Breakaway" is No. 1 for a 17th consecutive week.
Meanwhile, American Idol judge Simon Cowell's new group Il Divo, whose first CD is under the same name, Il Divo, is currently the 14th best selling CD via Amazon and its affiliates.
Underwood's proud grandfather, Carl Shatswell is beaming over his granddaughter's success. He said:
I think it's great.
She's No. 1 on the radio.
I'm going to buy a CD. I never did care much about them CD players, but I will buy one and I'll listen to it somewhere.
Congratulations Carrie and Bo!
Inspire & Be Inspired.
Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful, "inside idol heaven" living!
