No, it's not that Aerosmith that you're thinking about. And no, the group we grew to know and love in the '70s are not that old.
On June 1st 2005, a couple in England, Percy and Florence Arrowsmith celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary.
They say they were married on June 1st, 1925, after meeting at their local church in Hereford, western England, where he sang in the choir and she was a Sunday school teacher.
Percy and Florence have three children, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
What has made their marriage work all these years?
Being able to say you're sorry.
It's one of the hardest things to admit, especially when you think you're right.
But this British couple, if they were to write a book or a song, would claim that the key to their long, successful marriage comes right out of the Good Book.
In the New Testament of The Bible, Ephesians 4:26 says "Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry."
The Arrowsmiths have heeded that call for eighty years.
Percy and Florence say they always kiss each other and hold hands each night before going to bed.
For those taking the plunge this summer these words are good advice.
Congratulations to the Arrowsmiths!
To quote the other, perhaps more famous, Aerosmith group:
Everytime that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face gettin' clearer
The past is gone
It went by like **dusk** to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay
I know what nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win
Half my life is in books' written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All the things, come back to you
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laugh and sing for the tear
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away
Dream On, Dream On, Dream On,
Dream until your dreams come true
Dream On, Dream On
Dream On, Dream On
Dream On, Dream On,
Dream On,oooooooooooooooooooohhhhh
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laugh and sing for the tear
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away
Inspire & Be Inspired.
Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful, "walkin' the Arrowsmith way" living!
