If America is about to be hit by a stolen nuclear missile you'd think the safest to place to watch the final episode of 24 would be in LA close to the terrorist, Habib Marwan, who initiated it; right? Wrong!
On Monday morning, after a moment of utter spontaneity, Tim and I decided to road trip it from San Francisco to Los Angeles just in time to watch our favorite FOX television drama with fellow Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) fans, Brad and Pamela King.
Little did we know that after all was said and done the stolen nuclear missile was heading directly toward the city we were driving.
Fortunately, once again Jack Bauer saved the world.
We were also glad to know that one of his fellow agents whom we expected to be killed off was spared. Then again, we should have expected the unexpected -- as Sutherland and the co-creators of 24 Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran have so aptly done four seasons in a row now.
On Monday, May 23rd 2005, the two-hour finale of our favorite "real time" TV show did not disappoint.
In fact, all four of us watching agreed afterwards that Season Four is probably the best of all previous 24s.
Knowing Jack will be back in January and Audrey will be "gone," let's hope Surnow and Cochran will cast another brilliant actress from La Femme Nikita and make Peta Wilson Jack's love interest next year.
Afterall, Nikita (previously played by Peta) learned to think like Jack, behave like Jack, and yet -- like Jack -- always had a conscience and a soul.
If the makers of 24 want to turn up the heat one more notch, Wilson would be the one to help Jack do it.
Until then, I hope Jack turns off his EverReady cellphone and takes a break for the balance of the year. He deserves it.
Congratulations Jack on saving the world, or at least a million people in LA.
Thank you Kiefer, Joel and Robert, co-directors Paul Shapiro and Ken Girotti, season finale writers Matt Michnovetz and Duppy Demetrius, Carlos Bernard (Tony), Arnold Vosloo (Marwan), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Dina), Dennis Haysbert (President Palmer), Kim Raver (Audrey), William Devane (Secretary of Defense Heller), Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe), Reiko Aylesworth (Michelle), Alberta Watson (Erin), Jude Ciccolella (Mike) and Louis Lombardi (Edgar). You all rock!
We really hope Dina will be back just like Nina was.
Inspire & Be Inspired.
Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful, "making peace with Chinese and Arab countries" living!
