International Beauty Aishwarya Rai
Three international beauties arrived in the French Riviera this week for the Cannes Film Festival. Aishwarya Rai of India came in part for the screening of Lemming directed by French director Dominique Moll. Mexican actress Salma Hayek was on the red carpet for the opening of Match Point. And Ireland-born Kiera Chaplin attempted to make a bold entrance in Cannes.
Lemming opened the 58th international Cannes film festival on Wednesday, May 11th 2005.
AP Photographer Lionel Cironneau captured Rai, the former Miss World arriving for the premiere.
The second best dressed, most "rugged elegant" celebrity on the red carpet on Wednesday was Mexican actress Selma Hayek.
Hayek is serving this year as one of the festival's judges.
On Thursday, Reuters photographer Vincent Kessler caught Rai smiling before she entered the theater to see U.S. director Woody Allen's new film Match Point.

Also on the red carpet on Thursday was Northern Ireland born actress and Vogue model Kiera Chaplin. Kiera is the youngest granddaughter of iconic film legend Charlie Chaplin and the great-granddaughter of playwright Eugene O'Neill.
This is the twenty-two year old's first experience at Cannes.
Later in the day, Chaplin was expected to do a Lady Godiva by riding through the streets on a horse to promote her first title film called Lady Godiva: Back in the Saddle.
The publicity stunt was cleared with the city. However, local police put a stop to the scantily-clad actress before she saddled up.
Now the film's executives are saying, "Lady Godiva ... must be allowed to get back in the saddle."
Chaplin is preparing to play Coventry's famous daughter. However, Kiera was not on her steed today protesting taxes. She was not naked. And she did not stride through Broadgate.
Chief executive of LA-based American Cinema Production and producer of the film, Frank Sacks, said:
The legend of Lady Godiva is known worldwide and this will be an outrageous clash of cultures and retelling of the story but set in the present day.
The contemporary tale revolves around the building of an American-style casino in Coventry, England. The movie will be directed by British TV veteran Baz Taylor.
Jennifer Tilly has signed on to co-star in the indie comedy with Chaplin.
Official filming will begin this summer.
While the majority of the financing for this film is secure co-producer Dennis Timothy of Koralis Pictures said that anyone who invests 5,000 GBP ($9,400) would be guaranteed a role as an extra in the film. They would also be given the opportunity to attend the premiere and "schmooze" with the stars.

Thank you Lionel Cironneau and Vincent Kessler for showing off these beautiful women as they "show off" on the red carpet and perhaps on horseback through the streets of Cannes.
