The trailer for Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith made its world premiere last night during the airing of The O.C. on FOX. On Friday, March 11th 2005, the preview also began airing in theaters.
We caught a glimpse before seeing the new animated movie, Robots.
Get ready; this movie is dark.
This Sunday, Star Wars creator and director George Lucas can be seen on 60 Minutes.
In this interview, Lucas discusses the nature of this final chapter in the saga.
Lucas says:
I don't think I would take a 5 or 6-year-old to this.
My feeling is that it will probably be a PG-13, so it will be the first Star Wars that's a PG-13.
During 60 Minutes, fans will get to see clips from the upcoming movie, as well as a rare glimpse into Lucas' private life.
Rome Hartman, 60 Minutes segment producer said:
We hope people get a bit of a sneak peek of the film and what it's about and insight into George both as a filmmaker and as a leader in the digital filmmaking revolution, insight into his personal life because we see him with his kids, and a look at his role as a business man.
Lucasfilm's move to the Presidio is an important part of our story as is the business that he's built at the same time he's made these films over the last 30 years.
The Beginning of the End ...
The turning point for the entire Star Wars saga is at hand.
After three years of fighting, the Clone Wars are coming to an end.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, now a general is dispatched by the Republic to bring down remaining Separatists Count Dooku and General Grievous.
Chancellor Palpatine has become corrupt, proclaiming himself Emperor.
Palpatine, eager to secure even greater control, subtly influences public opinion to turn against the Jedi.
With Anakin Skywalker's help, they begin to turn the Republic into the Galactic Empire.
Anakin Skywalker, prophesied Chosen One, begins his journey towards the Dark Side of the Force, putting his friendship with Obi Wan Kenobi and his marriage at risk.
Senator Amidala, played by Natalie Portman, is Anakin's pregnant, wife-in-secret.
The villain in this film is General Grievous. He is described as "a twisted melding of flesh and metal."
StarWars.com states that General Grievous, the deadly leader of the Separatist droid armies, the part-droid-part-alien creature whose metallic body and fearsome eyes face many Jedi in their last moments of bravery.
Afraid that his secret love will die a fearsome new Sith Lord, Darth Vader is ordained by Darth Sidious.
Star Wars Goes to Hell
George Lucas admits that the film ends with Anakin in Hell.
The violent sci-fi adventure film appears to be emotionally intense from start-to-finish.
The characters featured in the trailer include: Windu, Palpatine, Chewie, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Palpy, Yoda and Darth Vader.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith opens on May 19th.
The title to this film is based on a false name given to "Return Of The Jedi", which was "Revenge Of The Jedi". (I still have my very old "Revenge Of The Jedi" sweatshirt.)

Life is breathed into an animated character called Draco by Oscar-nominated Visual Effects Supervisor Roger Guyett together with this creative leader's team at Industrial Light & Magic.
The first Star Wars was released in 1977.
This last film 'Revenge of the Sith' will finally answer the question of why the young Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker made "a pact with the devil" and turned to the Dark Side of The Force eventually evolving into Darth Vader.
Lucas explains why are there no Jedi around in the original Trilogy.
The climax of the 30-year-old series also sets up the birth -- and subsequent separation -- of twins Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker. In doing so, we learn what happened to Luke and Leia's mother.
