On Sunday, January 16th, NBC Golden Globes co-host, Al Roker took over for Dick Clark while Clark is recovering from a stroke. Roker said it best, "The sun is going down. But the stars are coming out." Nine star couples captured our attention as the 2005 Golden Globes' best dressed, most "rugged elegant".

Rugged Elegance is defined by those who have a certain look and who embody a healthy, adventuresome, soulful spirit. Our selections were based on the couples whose either had "the look" and/or whose souls outshone their beautiful gowns and handsome tuxedos.

One other criteria: During our selection process, we asked ourselves, "Who would we invite to dinner?"

In a town that is masked by many who are more pretentious and self-centered than authentic and down-to-earth, it was inspiring to identify eighteen people.

One of the couples selected this year has been married for sixteen years. One is a media team. One couple was paired only for a presentation. And one star came with his granddaughter as his date.

Foxx was nominated for a record three 2005 Golden Globes. He received an award for his role in the Ray Charles movie, Ray.

Growing up Foxx was voted Class Favorite. He came to the awards, a favorite, with a beautiful woman by the name of Leila Arcieri.

Foxx called her "the most beautiful woman in the world."

With a little coaxing from NBC's Billy Bush, she called Foxx "the most charming man in the universe."

Speaking of Bush, NBC's Access Hollywood co-anchors, Billy Bush and Nancy O'Dell added pizzazz, fun and great memories to the 2005 Golden Globes after the awards ceremony.

The names Billy Bush and Nancy O'Dell are synonymous with the term "television personalities".

After winning a Golden Globe for her role in Million Dollar Baby, Hilary called her husband, Chad "my everything."

Morgan Freeman came to the 2005 Golden Globe Awards with his granddaughter, Edina. Freeman was nominated this year for his performance in Million Dollar Baby. While Freeman did not take home the individual trophy, Clint Eastwood took one home for the entire cast. Eastwood won the award for Best Director.

Scarlett Johansson & Ewan McGregor

Actress Scarlett Johansson and Scottish actor Ewan MacGregor together presented the 62nd Annual Golden Globe Awards' Best Foreign Film. The pair on stage looked like vintage Hollywood movie stars. She wore a tangerine Roland Mouret gown.

They announced that the Spanish film The Sea Inside beat Motorcycle Diaries, The Chorus and The House of Flying Daggers for the 2005 Golden Globe.

ER Star, Goran Visnjic & His Wife, Ivana Vrdoljak

Croatian born and trained Goran Visnjic (pronounced Vish-nyich) and his wife Ivana Vrdoljak

Visnjic is tall, dark and handsome. His equally exotic looking wife looked stunning on the red carpet.

In 1999, Visnjic joined the ER cast as Dr. Luka Kovac, a Croatian doctor. That year, he was also recognized by People Magazine as the year's sexiest import. He has also been called by Vogue "The Tom Cruise of Croatia." When he is not acting or playing with his child, Goran loves to fence, swim and dive. Ivana is a sculptor.

We've never seen Dr. Kovac in action on ER nor Mr. Visnjic in real-life, but we were most impressed when we were introduced to this couple at the 2005 Golden Globe Awards.

These are couples who not only had the look but, who together, embody a healthy, adventuresome and/or soulful spirit that we believe our audience may, in one way or another, find inspirational.
