Rugged Elegant Photo of The Day: Horsing Around The Eiffel Tower on Ice Skates

Paris.Eiffel.Tower.White.Ho.jpg

AFP Photographer, Janek Skarzynski captured this night view of the Eiffel tower in Paris.

Work began to install an ice-skating rink in the Eiffel Tower as Paris plans to offer six weeks of free skating with a bird's-eye view of the city over the winter period.

A gigantic crane was put in place to lift some ten tons of equipment to the tower's first level, where the rink is set to open on December 10th in time for the Christmas rush.

Visitors to the Eiffel Tower will be able to use the 2,150 square foot (200 square meter) rink for free, including skates, at a height of 188 feet (57 meters) above the Seine river.

The skating rink will be open every day from 9:30 am to 11:00 pm from December 10 until January 23, with a capacity of 80 skaters at a time.
