O, The Oprah Magazine, Names The Top 'Chick Flicks' of All Time
This past July, O, The Oprah Magazine picked the top "chick flicks" of all time. With the holiday season now upon us, we thought the list bears another look.
"From frothy romances to whale-riding adventures, these films show us who we are, where we've been, what we can take, and better yet, what we can dish out," the O editors write of the list culled by Karen Durbin.
Here are the top films with links to purchase the DVD, if available, or the VHS version on Amazon.com.
- "Morocco," directed by Josef von Sternberg
- "Camille," directed George Cukor
- "Notorious," directed by Alfred Hitchcock
- "The French Lieutenant's Woman," directed by Karel Reisz

Above are three films that inspire us which fit the "rugged elegant" -- healthy, adventuresome, soulful -- genre.
In addition, a movie not included in Oprah's Top Chick Flick List, but that makes the Rugged Elegant Living list is both the movie, The Thomas Crown Affair starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, and the soundtrack from the film which includes Windmills of Your Mind by Sting. The music is, no doubt, one of the things that makes this movie.
