On Tuesday night, Pedro Martinez pitched eight innings of shut-out baseball while Manny Ramirez hit a solo home run, drove in another run, and threw-out a runner at the plate to lead the Red Sox to a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Game 3 of the World Series took place in St. Louis after the Boston Red Sox won the first two games at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox now have seven straight postseason wins tying the 1976 Reds, the 1995 Braves and the 1998 Yankees for the Major League record.
After the game, both Manny and Pedro thanked God for the win.
The thirty-two year-old left-fielder from the Dominican Republic is grateful to be on the team after almost being traded in the off season for Alex Rodriguez (A Rod) formerly of the Rangers and now currently with the Yankees.
Pedro added to his commentary after the game, "I could be anybody's daddy any day."
He definitely was the Cardinals' daddy tonight.
Thirty-three year-old, Bill Mueller of the Red Sox, who grew up in the St. Louis area and has been a Cardinals fan his whole life, also gave the glory to God before accepting kudos from Kevin Kennedy of FOX.
Mueller said, "Well, first and foremost, Kevin, I just have to thank God because it is a God-given gift that I've been gifted with to play this game. He deserves all the credit."
The third baseman from Missouri went on to say, "It's special to come back here and play in front of your mom and dad and friends and family. That's special anytime, anywhere. It's just very exciting."
Another player whose family and friends were in the crowd tonight was the Cardinals' right fielder, Larry Walker.
Larry's friend Rob, along with brothers, Gary and Cary were seated above right field cheering on Larry and the Cardinals after having given up an annual fishing trip in Canada. Their other brother, Barry and parents Larry and Mary were cheering on Larry (Jr.) from afar.
While the curse is not yet broken, it's starting to bend to the Red Sox will.
Wednesday night's game in St. Louis begins at 8 p.m. ET. Tune into the FOX Network.
Congratulations BoSox x 3!
Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful and "big daddy" living!
