Come To Papi: David Ortiz Wins Second Boston Marathon in One Day -- Red Sox 5 Yankees 4 in 14

David.Ortiz.jpgIn one day, the Boston Red Sox have won two games. No, it wasn't a doubleheader. Rather it was two Boston Marathons.

At 1:22 a.m. this morning at Fenway Park, David "Papi" Ortiz hit a home run for the Red Sox in the twelfth inning to beat the Yankees, 6-4.

Tonight, with the Red Sox' season still on the line, Ortiz again powered the Red Sox to a second straight extra-innings victory against the New York Yankees.

In the longest ALCS baseball game in post season history (5 hours and 49 minutes), the Boston Red Sox have kept alive their chances of heading to the World Series by beating the Yankees in 14 innings tonight, 5-4.

Ortiz hit the 472nd pitch of the game with two outs in the 14th inning to single home Johnny Damon -- no relation to Matt except in spirit -- from second base.

Just two days ago, the Sox were three outs from a "cursed" sweep in Game 4. Now they are halfway to the greatest comeback in baseball history.

Curt Schilling, the starting pitcher for the Red Sox in Game 6, said after Game 5, "It's electric. This whole place is electric. Every night, every game: I've never seen anything like it."
