In honor of Christopher Reeve (1952-2004), who played the role of Superman on the big screen four times (1978, 1980, 1983, 1987), look for lots of kids this Halloween wearing a Superman costume.
Or for those of us whose kids are too young to appreciate who the world just lost, perhaps a number of moms will be dressed as Lois Lane while dads sport Superman's muscle chest and red cape.
Today, we are celebrating the life of the 52 year-old actor and director who died last night from heart failure.
Last Thursday, the results of a survey by BIGresearch were reported stating that 2.15 million children are planning to dress as their favorite superhero on October 31st. (See story An "All Hallow's Eve" Insight on Kid's Culture)
Superman was not on the top twenty list of the 2004 Superhero list. But in three weeks time, he may be.
If kids are inspired to become Superman this Halloween, hopefully parents will use the opportunity to teach their children about Christopher & Dana Reeve's journey over the past nine years along with the plight of other people affected by spinal cord paralysis.
Imagine, for every piece of candy our children received on Halloween, if we were to all give one penny to Mr. Reeve's foundation what an impact our nationwide community could have on those children unable to walk from door-to-door trick-or-treating this holiday.
