The prognosis for 43 year-old, singer Melissa Etheridge looks good her doctors say. Etheridge has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo surgery. She and her doctors expect a "speedy and complete recovery."
On Thursday, Etheridge's publicist Marcel Pariseau released a statement announcing the reason Etheridge has cancelled her seven-city, eleven-date concert tour this month.
The cancer was detected early and Etheridge has been receiving treatment, Pariseau said.
"I am fortunate to be under a wonderful doctor's care and thankful that this was caught early," Etheridge said in the statement. "I am looking forward to a quick and full recovery."
Etheridge's latest album, Lucky, was released in February.
Refunds for tickets to her upcoming shows will be available where they were bought.
Melissa, people all over the world have breast cancer awareness on their minds this month. Fans like us will add you, Tammy Lynn and your children to our prayer list.
Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful and "lucky" living!
