The Hottest Halloween Costumes of 2004: An "All Hallow's Eve" Insight on Kid's Culture

Spiderman.Costume.jpg Spiderman

Today, The Center for Media Research reported that Spiderman (a good guy) will be the most popular Halloween costume for kids this year.

The report comes from a survey done by BIGresearch for the National Retail Federation (NRF). They expect that 2.15 million children are planning to dress as their favorite superhero on October 31st.

Some of the more popular superheroes include:

Spiderman

A Ninja Turtle

An Olympic Athlete

Batman

Wonder Woman

Other popular costumes this year will include princesses (1.8 million children), witches (1.3 million) and vampires (899,000).

Good News: The Good Guys & Gals Win

According to The NRF 2004 Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, though witches, ghosts, and vampires will be out in full force this Halloween, the good guys will prevail.

NRF President and CEO, Tracy Mullin, said "With the popularity of Spiderman for Halloween this year, it's easy to see how frequently children take cues from pop culture. For retailers, identifying and ordering the most popular costumes months in advance can be the real trick to a successful Halloween."

Survey results indicate that 54.1 percent of consumers plan to buy a costume for Halloween this year.

Those purchasing costumes will spend an average of $28.11.

With an estimated $3.12 billion to be spent on the holiday, Halloween ranks as the sixth-largest spending holiday of the year.

In our household, we will have one Grecian Princess and one ballerina.

Creative Designs makes a collection of five different princess slippers for ages 3 years and up ($24.99). Included in this collection is a princess crown.

Disney.Princesses.Trunk.jpg Trio Princess Trunk by Disney

For the royal princess in your family, Disney creates the Deluxe Castle Dress Up Trunk which includes a Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty Dress along with shoes and accessories. At $99.99 divided three ways, this could be a good economical solution for three friends, the same age, who want to go trick or treating together as Disney Princesses.

This would also make a great Christmas gift for girls, 3 - 10 years of age.

A couple of other costumes that caught our eye:

Scooby Doo

Orange Clown Fish Hat

And perhaps something for mom or dad or teenage kids?

An Inflatable Adult Clown Costume with four wigs to choose from in blue, yellow, orange and rainbow color

A Firefighter Hat & Red Patent Leather Jacket

Typically, with orders of $25 or more, free shipping is offered.

Happy Halloween.

Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful and heroic living, for at least one night!
