Amy Grant Releases "Greatest Hits 1986-2004" CD & Video

Amy.Grant.1986.2004.Cover.jpg

Today, Amy Grant's new CD hits your sound waves.

It is called Amy Grant ... Greatest Hits 1986-2004. Expect to hear not only her greatest hits from the past eighteen years but two new recordings. Her two new tracks include: "Come Be With Me," featuring Keb' Mo' and co-written by Beth Nielsen Chapman (Faith Hill's "This Kiss"), and "The Water," co-written by Grant and with husband Vince Gill on electric guitar.

The Greatest Hits 1986-2004 CD is available for order and shipment today, October 12th.

Christianity Today has already awarded The Greatest Hits CD 4.5 out of 5 Stars.

Rugged Elegant Living gives Grant, her partners Gill along with Word/Curb/Warner many kudos for bringing us old fans back into the fold and introducing a new generation to the best of this Tennessee singer / songwriter pop, rock, Christian music legend.

For all of us, it is a sweet taste of what made Grant so Grand over thirty years ago. And it gives us a hint of new music that is still to come.

Amy.Grant.Greatest.Hits.CD.jpgExecutive produced by Grant, "Greatest Hits 1986-2004" picks up where Amy's platinum 1987 retrospective, "The Collection," left off.

Along with the pair of new tracks are 17 past recordings. Included are 15 of her Top 40 Adult Contemporary hits.

Limited Edition Bonus CD

Initial shipments of "Greatest Hits 1986-2004" will be presented in a limited edition that also includes a bonus CD of four remixes -- "Every Heartbeat" "That's What Love Is For," "I Will Remember You" and "House Of Love."

In 1978, my freshman year at the University of Colorado in Boulder, I was first introduced to Amy Grant - thanks to two Kappa sisters, Josie Lewis and Kristen Vukovich.

Grant became for me what Hilary Duff and Joss Stone are to my nine year-old today. I bought every Amy Grant album the minute it came out. And memorized nearly every song. Twenty-five years later, this is one of the few things that hasn't changed around here.

While, as a kid, I was never one to ooh and aah over celebrities, in 1999, with a four month-old and a three year-old in tow, I took a solo driving trip across country where we stopped in New York City. One of the main reasons we went to Manhattan was so that I could take my girls and their eighteen year-old Swedish babysitter to an Amy Grant concert. Then, four years ago, when I was flown to Nashville to speak at a Christian publishers conference, I admit I asked my hosts, Mitch and Troy Solarek to drive me by Grant and Gil's new house. Amy Grant is the only "rock star" I have driven three thousand miles to hear and flown half that distance to try to catch a glimpse of.

At 15 years of age, Grant first signed and then released a series of albums in the late '70s / early '80s. She deserves credit for having invented the Contemporary Christian genre.

Beginning with her 1986 duet with Peter Cetera "The Next Time I Fall" from his "Solitude/Solitaire" album, she was the first Christian music artist to cross over to rock / pop stardom .

Since then, Grant & Company have sold over 25 million albums. She has received 24 Dove awards from the Christian Music industry. She has received 5 Grammys. She has also received special recognition from the Pope. And in 2003, she was elected to the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Six of her albums have gone Platinum. And five have gone Gold.

Her previous albums include:

Amy Grant (1977)
My Father's Eyes (1979)
Never Alone (1980)
Age to Age (1982)
Straight Ahead (1984)
Unguarded (1985)
Lead Me On (1988)
Heart in Motion (1991)
House of Love
Behind the Eyes (1995)
Legacy: Hymns and Faith (2002)
Simple Things (2003)

Not to mention the many Christmas albums she has contributed to over the years.

Her new collection gives you many of her best oldies including "Saved By Love" and "Lead Me On" which were selected from her gold 1988 album "Lead Me On." This CD gave her the fifth of her five Grammys.

In 1991, she released "Heart In Motion," her first Top 10 pop album.

"Greatest Hits 1986-2004" brings together the original "Baby Baby" and its Heart In Motion Mix version, "Every Heartbeat", "That's What Love Is For", "Good For Me" and "I Will Remember You".

Her double platinum, Top 20 "House Of Love" CD (1994) contributes the title track duet with her husband, Vince Gill, who has won fifteen Grammys of his own.

In this order, the entire list of songs from this 2 disc 80-minute collection include:

2. Come Be With Me - Previously Unreleased
3. The Next Time I Fall – Duet With Peter Cetera

Set your TiVo for "The Jay Leno Show" on October 18th. Next Monday, Amy will be on his show. Then on Thursday, October 21st, she will appear and sing on "The View."

Under my three nieces' Christmas tree this season will be Hilary Duff's latest called Hilary Duff, Joss Stone's new Body, Mind & Soul and Amy Grant's Greatest Hits 1986-2004 CD coupled with her new video.
