Actress Sharon Stone Nominated For An Emmy

Sharon Stone knows what she wants. And she knows how to get it.

Yesterday, Stone was nominated for an Emmy award as Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Her appearance in ABC's The Practice earned her this nomination which she shares with Louise Fletcher, Joan of Arcadia, CBS; Mare Winningham, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NBC; Marlee Matlin, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NBC and Betty White, The Practice, ABC.

The 56th annual Primetime Emmy awards were announced Thursday by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Stone is already an Oscar winner. Her role with Robert DeNiro in Casino (1995) gave her the title along with a Golden Globe nomination. She also received a Best Actress Golden Globe nomination as Catherine Trammell in Basic Instinct (1992) and a Best Supporting Actress nomination in Mighty (1998).

On Sunday, July 14 2004, Stone presented the 'best male athlete' at the 12th annual ESPY Awards in Hollywood, California. The awards gather the sports and entertainment worlds to celebrate the best performances from the past year. The award was won by Lance Armstrong, who is competing for a record sixth Tour de France victory.

Earlier last week, Stone made a commitment to get back into Catherine Trammell's character. Her "Basic Instinct" was to negotiate a deal that will reap Stone and adopted son, Roan, $14 million.

Other family members, bodyguards, drivers, nannies (all three of them), pilates instructors, airlines, hotels and jewelry designers stand to benefit too.

Stone has negotiated with the "Basic" sequel producers to make sure her armed bodyguards receive $3,500 per week. Her chauffeured car piloted by a non-smoking driver must be personally approved before hiring. And any jewelry she wears, she will be allowed to keep. These are just a few of the items and people Stone wants while filming Instinct II.

Where Jennifer Lopez asks for a world of white: a white room, white flowers, white tablecloths, white drapes, white candles, white couches, white lilies, and white roses, Stone has asked for 5 pages worth of people and product support.

Stone is no dummy. With an I.Q. of 154 (Einstein's was 160+), the forty-six year-old actress has the brains, the body and the spirit to drive a hard bargain.

Sharon.Stone.Basic.Instinct.Poster.jpgIn 1992, Basic Instinct generated $117.7 million in domestic ticket sales alone. Having never seen the film, I am not one to judge the prospective value of Stone's demands.

Co-star Michael Douglas will not be returning, nor will director Paul Verhoeven or screenwriter Joe Eszterhas. Stone's new love/hate co-star will likely be someone younger; someone she says who is "wrinkle free."

We welcome your comments as to who should play Stone's co-star in Basic Instinct 2.

Today, Rolling Stone readers can pick up a copy of the current issue and learn about "Sharin(g) Stone's role in Catwoman co-starring Halle Berry.

A few years ago, trick-or-treating in Sea Cliff, Stone, husband-at-the-time, Phil Bronstein and young son, Roan were the quintessential family, handing out candy together in front of their home.

When Stone and her third husband divorced, she moved few of her belongings out of San Francisco.

From the outside, perhaps some would suggest that she heed her own quote, i.e., "Real happiness comes from inside. Nobody can give it to you."

Stone told Peter Hata of LivingDharma.org "Probably, to a lot of people's thought, I'm extremely religious. My practice is Buddhism, but I believe in God." When she lived in San Francisco, Stone was known to attend Glide Memorial Church, and sometimes even delivered a sermon. In October 2001, she suffered a mild brain aneurysm or subarachnoid hemorrhage, but decided it was not her time to die.

While she has suffered from diabetes, as does her Catwoman co-star Halle Berry, the actress shows few signs of suffering, let alone aging.

Perhaps Berry knows how she feels, especially after playing Sharon Stone in the 1994 film The Flintstones.

Sharon, good luck on September 19th!

Inspire & Be Inspired.

Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful and wise living with those who make it worth sharing the wealth!
