Tennis-Related Commercial on ESPN Worth Stopping TiVo FastForward To Watch

Genworth.Ad.1.jpg Connor Hance Dress-Alike & Connor Hance

At the end of June, ESPN SportCenter started running a commercial that is worth stopping the TiVo fastforward to watch. The ad stars a kid by the name of Connor Hance. The commercial took two days to shoot in early May at the South Bay Tennis Center in Torrance, California.

Created for Genworth Financial, an ad this good deserves a little free publicity. Even one that cost $25 million that was paid in part to Connor's stage parents. I wonder how much Connor and his real parents received?

To check out Genworth's commercial via Windows Media, Quicktime or Real Media, go to: Genworth Media Campaign

Otherwise, watch ESPN SportCenter and hope you get lucky.

Whether you're into tennis, hot shot up-and-comers like Connor, or not, this commercial is worth watching.

To learn more about Connor's stage dad, go to: MSNBC.com, but only after you've watched the ad.

Genworth is a new public insurance holding company (previously known as GE Financial Assurance and GE Mortgage Insurance). The company is dedicated to "protecting lifestyles, providing retirement income, and helping people achieve the dream of home ownership." Already, the General Electric Co. unit has 15 million customers. In May, Genworth raised $2.83 billion in its IPO which helps justify $25 million toward this ad.

Marten Van Pelt, managing director of Klamath Communication, the Young & Rubicam unit that created the ads said, "The concept at the start was the genes make all the difference. … We were looking for a creative way to express that."

And that they did.

The spots are aimed at the 300,000 brokers, financial advisers and others who sell Genworth's insurance products.

And now the 200,000 people who come to RuggedElegantLiving.com every month looking for a little inspiration.

They should also be aimed at any young aspiring athletes on the planet -- no matter who their parents are.

Inspire & Be Inspired.

Here's to healthy, adventuresome, soulful and soakin' up the good genes living!
