From Sean Connery to Pierce Brosnan: Who Will Be The Next James Bond?
Sean Connery, The Original James Bond
"The name is Bond...James Bond." There is perhaps no more famous character on the big screen. When Pierce Brosnan retires from the role as Secret Agent Double-O-Seven, who will be worthy of filling Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan's shoes?
Parade, The Sunday Newspaper Magazine asked that question of its readers, and one actor's name stood above the rest: The former Highlander star, forty-five year-old, Adrian Paul.
Before exploring Adrian Paul and a few other contenders who may be considered as the next James Bond, let's take a look at the way Bond's creator, Ian Fleming described him, and those who have taken on the role from 1962 to present day.
Ian Fleming's literary Bond:
6'2" tall, 167 pounds, slim build, blue eyes, black hair, scar down right cheek, straight nose, cruel mouth, firm jawline, flecks of grey hair, tanned. For the role, an English accent, humor, athleticism and acting ability are all a plus. I should think the actor should also be someone has heard of outside of the UK. Just because the guy is a tv star in England, it won't help ticket sales in US if no one here has ever seen him.
In 1962, brilliant Scottish actor, Sean Connery set the stage forever as the first Secret Agent 007.
Connery won the role of Bond over Cary Grant, Rex Harrison, Trevor Howard, Patrick McGoohan and Roger Moore.
He starred in six Ian Fleming films: Dr No (1962), Goldfinger (1964), From Russia With Love (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967) and Diamonds Are Forever (1971). He also appeared in the unofficial Thunderball remake Never Say Never Again (1983).
(In an interesting side-note, Ian Fleming was also the author of the children's book Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.)
Steven Spielberg said "There are seven genuine movie stars in the world today, and Sean Connery is one of them."
In 1989, Connery was voted by People Magazine as "The Sexiest Man Alive."
Today, at seventy-three years of age the Oscar, Golden Globe and Tony award-winning actor remains sexier than ever.
Since Connery's departure as James Bond in 1983, only four other actors have had the honor of stepping into his shoes: an Australian, two British Gents and an Irishman.
Aussie bloke, George Lazenby only played Bond once. The film was called On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
The Third James Bond, Roger Moore
Roger Moore's first take as Bond was in Live And Let Die (1973).
It has been said that Moore is closer to Ian Fleming's original concept of Bond, as a disenfranchised member of the British Establishment, than Connery's more rough-and-tumble Bond.
Moore and Connery are the only 007 agents who starred in seven Bond films.
Sir Moore's other six James Bond films were: The Man with The Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983), and A View To A Kill (1985).
Among those considered to replace Moore were Mel Gibson, Tom Selleck and Don Johnson.
Timothy Dalton as 007
However, the (1944) North Wales born, Timothy Dalton, who is of British, Italian, and Irish ancestry, won the role in August 1986. He took over as Bond twice in The Living Daylights (1987) and Licence To Kill (1989).
The handsome Irish actor, Pierce Brosnan would have taken over the role after Moore had he not gotten caught up in a TV contract that was extended. Goldeneye (1995) was Brosnan's foray into 007's character. Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002) have made him one of the most successful 007 agents to take the big screen.
Pierce Brosnan, Our Current James Bond
Brosnan was also a hit in the 1999 thriller The Thomas Crown Affair with Rene Russo. Last month, the actor turned fifty-one.
Bond made his first appearance in a book published by Coronet Books. The 1988 is called Casino Royale.
On June 24, 2004, Miramax Books announced they have bought the U.S. publishing rights to the first two books in a new adventure series about the teenage James Bond. Film rights are not part of the deal between Miramax's publishing division and Ian Fleming Publications, the company founded by Bond creator Ian Fleming and wholly owned by the Fleming family.
Jonathan Burnham, president and editor-in-chief of Miramax Books said "Charlie Higson has done a wonderful job of translating the Bond vision into a fresh new series for younger readers. It's exciting to be re-launching the Bond franchise for a new generation."
Miramax plans to publish the first book in Spring 2005.
Under consideration by the producers as the next James Bond in the twenty-second and perhaps future films:
Australian actor and singer, Hugh Jackman (10/12/68) recently starred in Van Helsing and has played Logan/the Wolverine in the Sci-Fi thriller X-Men series. X-Men 3 directed by Bryan Singer and co-starring Halle Berry expects a 2006 release. One fan went as far as to create a mock poster of Jackman in a James Bond-like pose.
Another top contender is Englishman Clive Owen (10/3/64). Owen played The Professor, Assassin in Robert Ludlum's thriller The Bourne Identity (2002) also starring Matt Damon. He took on the role of Arthur in King Arthur (2004). Owen is currently filming Sin City (2005) and in the upcoming James Siegel bestseller Derailed.
In the BMW Film series shown on the Internet and thanks to TiVo, Owen's driving skills proved his mettle as a James Bond contender.
Recently, a survey was done by Parade The Sunday Newspaper Magazine as to who should be the next James Bond. Hands-down, Adrian Paul came out as their audience's #1 replacement choice.
Adrian Paul Hewett was born on May 29, 1959 in London, England, UK. His Italian mother and British father raised him in London. Before coming to America, he was a model, dance and choreographer. He was also a semi-professional soccer player. While Paul studied Shakespeare, one of his favorite authors, and performed in class plays throughout school, acting was less of a focus until he moved to America. Fluent in English, French and Italian, he came to the states to pursue a dance and modeling career until he was encouraged to audition for an ABC television series called The Colbys. After a stint on Broadway, other tv shows and the 1989 film Last Rites, in 1992 he landed the role of Duncan MacLeod in the syndicated tv series, Highlander.
From June 25 - 31, TVNow is highlighting past performances of Paul's from fifty episodes of Highlander, Highlander-Endgame (2000) to Murder, She Wrote, The Breed (2001), Love Potion No. 9 (1992), and Nemesis Game (2003). In addition to a number of other feature films currently in production, Paul is working on a film based on the life of the misunderstood 18th century Italian adventurer and scholar Giovanni Giacomo Casanova.
With over a decade under his belt in martial arts (kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do and Hung Gar Kung Fu), this expertise would certainly make some of his 007 action scenes look authentic.
Like Connery, one of Paul's favorite hobbies is golf.
Paul has also been lauded by People Magazine as one of sexiest celebrities. In November 2000, he was given the title "Sexiest Action Star."
In his spare time, Paul works with his P.E.A.C.E (Protect, Educate and Aid Children Everywhere) Fund, a foundation designed to help ill, abused and needy children.
In addition to Jackman, Owen and Adrian Paul, James Bond fan sites have also recommended:
Edward Atterton, Christian Bale, Gerard Butler, Russell Crowe, Tom Cruise, James D'Arcy, Jack Davenport, Alexis Denisof, Matt Day, Rupert Everett, Colin Farrell, Ralph Fiennes, Matthew Goode, Ioan Gruffudd, Hugh Grant, Jason Isaacs, Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, Jeremy Northam, Guy Pearce, James Purefoy, Clive Robertson, Dougray Scott, Rufus Sewell, Rikki Lee Travolta, Colin Wells, Dominic West, and Robbie Williams.
Robson Green (12/18/64), who lives in the South of England and Northumberland with his wife Vanya (3/10/01) and their son Taylor (4/29/00), is also making an appearance on James Bond fan sites. Green starred in the BBC dramas Casualty, Soldier, Soldier, Reckless, Trust, and Venus and Mars and was last seen in the tv drama Unconditional Love.
One additional consideration, thanks to the inspiration of a reader, is Jason Isaacs. Isaacs plays Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series (which we saw last week). He also played both the father and Captain Hook in the 2003 release of Peter Pan (which we saw two nights ago). Isaacs is a debonair character who has the capability of being a proper English gent in one scene to a sexy "rugged elegant" action hero in the next. Excellent suggestion!
The Best of James Bond x Two
The ever-sexy, sauve and debonaire, Sir Sean Connery (today, a young 73 years of age) has been encouraged by Dame Judi Dench to take over the role as "M," James Bond's boss. Brilliant idea!
Personally, there has only been one James Bond and that is Sean Connery. However, the producers of the film series would do well to couple a bright new star with the original actor. The twenty-second film could represent the best of the original and a new generation of Bond.
The Alpha Female Factor: Jaime Bond
Should the producers decide to leverage today's Eve-olution they ought to consider retiring James Bond for his daughter, Jaime (kind of an Italian Job meets Nikita). Jaime is French for "I love."
If this is a consideration, we recommend: Peta Wilson -- for all us die-hard La Femme Nikita fans.
Having played against Sean Connery in the 2002 The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen perhaps Connery would put in a good word for the Australia-born Wilson (11/8/70).
The James Bond film franchise is considered the most successful in history, spanning four decades. According to author James Chapman (License to Thrill: A Cultural History of the James Bond Films) it is estimated that a quarter of the world's population has seen at least one Bond film.
Filming of the 21st Bond film is expected to begin in early 2005. Stay tuned as to who will have the name "007" added to his...or her...list of credits.

Other RuggedElegantLiving.com Stories about Sean Connery:
There can be only one & it should be Adrian Paul! He's got the looks, the athletic ability & he's the sexiest man alive!! He's even been pictured side by side with a young Sean Connery & there is a remarkable resemblance. What a combination these two would make with Connery as M.
Hmmmm, Bond. James Bond. I think it should be Damian Lewis, altho I realize that's not going to be very popular, since he's a redhead. However, I'm a HUGE, HUGE Nikita fan and I think the idea of going to the next generation with James' daughter, Jaime is PERFECT. Peta Wilson would be AWESOME in the part!
Adrian Paul is the ONLY choice. If you don't believe it, check out a Highlander episode called The Blitz. He was more Bond than Bond. He looks like he could be Sean Connery's flesh and blood son (if not his clone in some light and camera angles). He is handsome, athletic (martial artist), a damned fine actor and ... did I mention ... handsome!?! ADRIAN PAUL has got to be the next Bond. He was made for this role.
ADRIAN PAUl--There Can Be Only One, next"James Bond". Adrian Paul, has what it takes, Acting Ability, Humor, Athliticism, and Tall Dark and Handsom. Given Title "Sexiest Action Star" from People Magazine. (November 2000)
Adrian Paul, would be the Perfect "007".
Peta Wilson wins hands down in my book! There's only one Nikita and that's Peta and there's only one female actress that fits the role and that's also Peta Wilson. She's got the looks, the style, the charisma, the moves and that accent!
Ewan Mcgregor would be a great OO7 he is a versatile and intriguing actor. He has such on camera charisma that I think he would be fascinating. His voice especially would be great. Also he would be a little different as bond unless they darken his hair and put a scar on his face. Also he is great in action scenes and, according to directors, able to do anything they require without much problem.
I am firmly committed to having the Canandian actor ROY DUPIUS as the next James Bond.He would be excellent in the role. Also,I think a woman should be introduced into the 007 movies. It would add so much more spark and romance to it. They really care for one another but each movie sees them with different partners and the action and the romance would add a new level to the 007 movies. I would suggest PETA WILSON as the new JAMIE BOND or the new love interest(for 007) . I hope these two people are put in the running in a very huge way.Thank You for your kind time and patience in this matter. Sincerely,cdame(cdgranny1)
I think adrian paul is an excellent choice. however let's shakeup the world a bit and put an american in the spot lite don johnson could serve as a replacement or as a bond partner working as a team or just give the brits warning don can be extremely sexy (ie hot spot and the other movie where he played a very smooth criminal and seduced his attorney) put don in as a bond. i bet he'd get a kick out of it.
Adrian is a lot like Sean Connery, But he has a style of his own. I think Adrian Paul will add a little mystery and sexual undertones to the roll that has not been seen for awhile.(the man has a great body and looks great in a tux) I believe Adrian did read for the Bond roll when Pierce got it. So its not like "they" 'the powers that be' haven't thought of him before.
Keeping my hairy knuckles crossed. He, he
There can be only one Bond and he is Adrian Paul! He has all the right stuff to be Bond, and he has wanted the role for a very long time! Now he is ripe for the part! There's never been a better time. He has a loyal fanbase and if he does get the role, I wouldn't be surprised to see new records set for a Bond film! Adrian's fans are KNOWN to devour his work! He has been considered before. I hope that Adrian will be the next James Bond!
Adrian Paul, would make a perfect James Bond! He has the athletic abilities to do just about everything they would have him do. Plus the fact that he speaks four languages, would be a definite plus to this role. Mr. Paul, has proven that he is able to play a variety of different characters.
Adrian Paul gets my vote for the next Bond! As the others have said, .. he's got the talent to act, is Tall, Dark, AND Handsome, (looks like a 007)..has much charisma...looks terrific in a tux....and, I'm sure he likes his martinis shaken...not stirred! I hope the powers that be see what I see...Adrian is James!!
David Niven along with many others was one of the first James Bonds in a comedy spoof of
# Casino Royale (1967) ....
It was one of those silly comedies the English were famous for in the late '60s. You had to be there!
Peter Sellers .Evelyn Tremble/James Bond/007
Ursula Andress .... Vesper Lynd/007
David Niven .... Sir James Bond
Orson Welles .... Le Chiffre
Joanna Pettet .... Mata Bond
Daliah Lavi .... The Detainer/007

Deborah Kerr Agent Mimi/Lady Fiona McTarry
William Holden .... Ransome
Charles Boyer .... Le Grand
John Huston .... McTarry/M
Kurt Kasznar .... Smernov

Jean-Paul Belmondo French Legionnaire (as Jean Paul Belmondo)
Terence Cooper .... Cooper/James Bond/007
Adrian is the next Bond, he is the best, for a l ot of reason, have a charisma, talent, sensuality, look, elegance...... (would you like anything else?
he is the one.
"There can be only one!"
Adrian Paul is so obviously the next James Bond!
Tall, dark& handsome, just like Connery was when he first took the role,A great mover, with his dance & martial arts training, perfect for the action scenes,& a ladies man to his fingertips, with those smouldering good looks. And Connery as M,? Oh, yes! Those two Highlanders in the same movie! That would hit all the fan bases, wouldn't it!
Adrian Paul is perfect for this role. He's hot, he's a great actor, he's British, and he looks great in a tux! Adrian Paul my favorite actor. If for no other reason, vote for him so all of the Adrian's Angels can drool over him and have everone else understand why! I also vote for Peta Wilson being the next Bond girl. She played the best female spy in the world. And Nora, don't vote for Roy just because you want to see him and Peta steam up the screen again!

Adrian Paul should be the next 007. He looks like and sounds like Sean Connery, and Bond fans would appreciate that. Plus if Bond should ever need to do another sword battle, a la Die Another Day, how better than Paul to weld the sword?
Peta Wilson?? Let her play Mrs. Peel, if there's another "Avengers" Keep Ralph Fiennes. No Uma. Please.
I feel Adrian Paul would make one of the greatest "Bond" actors since Sean Connery. He just looks like a "James Bond". He is suave, athletic, muscular, extremely handsome, witty and keen. He is a wonderfully talent actor and can convince any viewer that he "is" the character he is portraying. This man has so many talents that has not yet be discovered on screen, that it is a shame not to explore them. He can captivate the entire female population while at the same time be admired and envied by all the male viewers wishing they were him. If he doesn't become the next "Bond", what a waste and shame to the producers of the "Bond" series of movies. I know personally that if Adrian is the next Bond, I will go to see that movie over and over till it left town. "Just do it!"
If anybody has any doubts about Adrian Paul, go to www.adriansangels.com and check out his pictures and acting credits. When it comes to new James Bonds, There Can Be Only One!!!!!
I saw Love Potion No 9 a couple of years ago. All I could remember a week later was the Adrian Paul character - so romantic, handsome and suave, as well as athletic - and his role lasted about 5 minutes. He will make a f*a*b*u*l*o*u*s James Bond.
ADRIAN PAUL should be the next James Bond.He is a fantastic actor, sexy, gorgeous and athletic. He also looks wonderful in a tux!
He will captivate the entire female population while all the male viewers will admire him and wish they were him
There is only one actor that can be the next Bond and it is ADRIAN PAUL
Adrian Paul is the finest actor - anywhere. He can play any role and shine. But surely - he is the perfect - most outstanding actor for this role in every way. Adrian Paul was BORN to play BOND.
We need Timothy Dalton back in the role. He should have still been playing the part today. Best man for the job. He should have taken over from Roger Moore no later than Octopussy. Moore was too old and unbelievable in the role by From A View To A Kill which is my least favorite 007 movie. I love all the Connery movies and even OHMSS is one of my favorites. TSWLM is one of my favorites and blew my mind the first time I saw it in the theater at age 11. I was hooked from that point on. I think that aside from Connery's portrayal and his establishing the whole thing I most respect Dalton's portrayal and his serious appreciation for the character as lived in the literary characte of 007. It is a real shame that he could not have continued through all the Brosnan movies.
I loved Pierce Brosnan, but if a change is in the air, my vote goes to Adrian Paul. Mr. Paul is an incredible actor, is fluent in French and Italian, practices martial arts, thanks to "Highlander: the Series" he is an internationally recognized actor, and he registers a 20 on an intensity scale of 1 - 10. I hope the producers give him serious consideration.
Bond is not a hero, nor is he depicted as being very likeable or admirable. He is a Secret Service agent. He's not a bad man, but he is ruthless and self-indulgent. He enjoys the fight - he also enjoys the prizes. In fiction, people used to have blood in their veins. Nowadays they have pond water.
My books are just out of step. But then so are all the people that read them." ...end quote.
Pseudoreality of ridicule one man repeating I?m Bond, reflecting all for purpose of selling a products.
Timothy Dalton was only actor that heave turned Bond for more then 5 times. But, alas, surface is more attractive to those that prefer cheap tricks.
But as actor capable of macro dramatic substance,
Daltons puts all into the shade.
Watch the Living Daylights where in amusement park in Vienna, Dalton is chasing a killer.
Once managed to escape, Dalton presents his talent and classical Shakespearean training that truly is without pears. In the same few seconds he is presenting lightning transformation from three emotional states while commanding authority.
Close up on his visage reveals anger for lost friends while in the same time in split of second he is entirely emotionally available to Kara who stands behind him, making delicate dramatic gesture of returning to us showing that he is not even started with vengeance.
Only actor of true merit is capable of such acting mastery.
It is not secret that he was only Bond that before signed a role, decided to read all books of Fleming, and then spoke : if there is to be Bond with my name,it has to be down to the book, down to very essence.
Legend says, once still thinking might he be interested to continue role after 4 years of legal battle for 007 rights (Danjaq,Mgm,Sony), someone from American side of producers who liked Moore above all, and generally with poor knowledge of Fleming, said Dalton is not to be Bond again. Wilson and Barbara never wanted to neither confirm or to deny this claims, and spoken Golden is Dalton?s movie, but it seems he couldn?t deal with that remark.
Rest is the history, Barbara and Wilson said they deeply regret Dalton is leaving.
Then in many countries people completely forgot about this and Brosnan amnesia began.
Stories like Dalton?s movie failed at box office and such.
Living Daylights was the moment released 4th most successful movie in Bond series.
Soundtrack of Living Daylights is in 2001 again remastered in deluxe series because of demand
and fans who placed the same on the top. Do you think DAD will be again requested after some
years?now,really (hahaha).
If you look at imdb.com reviews of Dalton?s bonds you will find most intriguing manifestations of
new readers of Fleming, something very promising.
People that actually were repeating like broken record how Dalton is bad, but still intrigued by those who claimed he is only one down by the book, actually went to read some, and then revised
their own previous statements, now saying how they understand why Dalton is Bond without match.
That is how profound people react once they actually read Fleming's book or two.
Real written Bond wants to resign very often.
He feel sometimes as if he is nothing but a mere mercenary and might this all be really worth of his efforts?.
He is even scared sometimes, really scared!
He has exactly the way he makes his breakfast, man actually takes his shaving mostly while at shower.
He is very strict about liking and disliking, and this be often in great detail.
Now, where do you see this in Brosnan movies? (hahaha)
Many people who sadly failed to read the books, feel weightiness in context of all accepted norms that are fashionably promising for their image,so to secure them also as part of "in-the-spot", they repeat the same secure things.
Connery is fine actor. He has larger then life charisma. But he never showed what Fleming wrote, the very essence, yet people think if they mention him as the one, they will become more serious an knowledgeable about Bond.
This is way Brocoli wanted Dalton even while Connery had the role, since *Diamonds are forever*
Anyone who know anything about Connery knows as he himself stated many times?he regrets ,he never took academic road, often feeling of less virtue because of that.
Honest man, indeed, and his life experience shaped his acting,in way many others academic only could hope for.
Moore is RADA student, but honestly, every role he made is somewhat mediocre.
Don?t get me wrong. He is worldly gentleman, and no Bond shaped tuxedo more elegantly, man has exquisite skills in skiing, and was charming Bond in decade of consumer technology birth.
Many voting pools statistics, proved that while many for sake of image use Connery as Bond nr.1,they really like Moore films best.Same when describing, what are most important ingredients of Bond, state always the same sad facts?Explosions ,car chases and sexy girls in bundance.
Where do you find those mostly : Moore movies.
Also when average movie critic who has no knowledge of Fleming literature summates his critic of last bonds, he always finds that movie offers right dosage of explosive elments, car chases?
Dalton presented, performance that was nimaginable to ever be needed, save alone seen in movie that was really, stylish, attractive action movie, dream Broccoli had in mind from very beginning.
It is not secret, each Bond actor is silent of Dalton?s performance.
Even Moore made most ridiculous claim that even some of his Bont/Saint fans found to be ludicrous.
He actually once said, he never had opportunity to watch Dalton, so he couldn?t tell much.
Needless to say, that every previous Bond always receives invitations from Danjaq, because their presence always makes premiere more attractive, and naturally Moore was pictured at Living Daylights with his ex-wife. Now, what ever you might think of each Bond, this fact speaks volumes! Even ex Bond actor, fears to fall in unattractive-pool of general conception,so he rather keeps his utter silent, then to risk might his opinion be well accepted.
As others Bond (except Dalton), he never read the Fleming books, and feels restricted to speak.
So how do I expect more from general audience?
As for Brosnan. He even has formulated acting face gesture while giving interviews. This is attribute of people that hide their lack of inner qualities with surface gestures.
You had to search, seek and look everywhere for Dalton?s interviews even when he was at peak of Bond fame, that is how modest this man is. Actor of true substance.
You can get Brosnan anywhere, his face is on every product, he loves interviews to uplift his ego trips even higher. He purchased from his own pocket (I?ve checked this),AM Vanquish, simply to prolong his image as Bond. What on earth would he ever do, if he didn?t catch this baggage?
Those who want real thing, will grace Fleming creation in books and then enjoy watching Dalton?s splendor.
Deliberandum est saepe statuendum semel.
In world of material shapes, where mind seems dissonant to presence of body and its raw might,
I?m not at all impressed with hedonistic man,one supplied with a pocket gun and in eyesight of his
voluptuous gist from where he elevates his enemies and sexual verve to their splendor or misery.
But yet, if you closely observe contribution of Fleming to modern pop culture, you would hardly find a match of almost same three dimensional aural symbolic recognition as words like 007 and Bond, once pronounced or heard. IBM spent fortune to present identification with only three letters.
There are millions of people on every continent illiterate of using computers, yet, every one knows that name. Same phenomenon could be observed with 007 and Bond. This symbolism has outgrow relation to last seen Bond or past, it has become entity for itself.
In such expedience, mediocrity is something
you tolerate and live without any dilemma. Even when I was reading the Fleming and watching the
movies,?never bothered with notion why less and less in touch what was in the books.
I never expected , Broccoli would -even he spoke often to closest people of crew he is not satisfied with Bond when related to books-decide to path road that Dalton emerged with life like performance. From that moment I started looking differently toward cinema Bond.
What I conveniently observed as two worlds of Books and pseudo reality movies, was now
upset, because LD and LTK came unbelievably close to that world - they blended in one, and most
of all, fuel to to that blend was even more promise of future Bonds with Dalton.
How much more words will come out embodied in unmistakable presence of Dalton?s Bond?
And when Dalton was Ad-acta?I forced myself to be at ease with Brosnan, but never managed.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe," I murmured, lost in mists of the past. "Attack ships
on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I saw Cee-Beams glitter in the darkness at Tanhauser Gate ... All
those memories ... all those ... things .... will be lost .... like tears in the rain ..."
This is how I feel about exquisite presence of Dalton.
Let's just think about it for a while.
James Bond is, first of all, a secret agent. That means special training skills and experience that can't be achieved in an yaer or two, if you know wht I mean. So he must be in his 40s.
He is british - therefore he has brittish accent and that uniqe british sense of humour.
Due to the way he lives, he has that dark side we all like so much and makes him unpredictable.
He is that kind of man that lights up a room when he enters and can have a woman at his feet in no time (at least that's what I've seen in the JB movies so far). A pretty face is not enough for that, it also takes charisma and, well, that "je ne sais qoi" as the french say.
These are only a few of JB's features.
Now, take the canditates to the JB role and see if they fit. Some of them are too young, some of them just look good but they actually can gat a NO from women, some of them have to take lessons for that british accent or for martial arts/special trainnig and most of them just don't fit in.
But there is just one that have it all and even more - ADRIAN PAUL.
He may not be the best actor ever but he is definitely the perfect James Bond, the most credible choice.
And, in my opinion, credibilty is what TPTB should look for when casting the next JB. I mean, only because an actor is popular, on the wave, doesn't mean he is also credible as the most famous spy of all times.
SO I'LL GIVE MY VOTE TO MR. ADRIAN PAUL, MAY WE ALL SEE HIM IN THE NEXT JB MOVIE.
Adrian Paul is OK for TV series.
But he has no substance in acting.
However if direction of next Bonds will path in Brosnan Vox Populi style, then Adrian will match Brosnan 5 times. For real thing, down to the book,
Dalton style, Clive Owen is the only choice.
Actor, with substance in training, eloquent in drama.
First choice after Dalton, and Simon Duttin (last Simon Templar)
Peta Wilson to be the female Bond? I concur 200%. She is the epitome of the female version of James Bond. She did well as Nikita in the TV version of La Femme Nikita.
I have been waiting for YEARS see Adrian Paul in the James Bond role. I am always disappointed to see Brosnan back in the role. BORING. I won't pay to see another Bond movie in the theater unless it is Adrian Paul. Sean Connery has been the only real "Bond" for me and the only one who I can see filling his sexy shoes is Adrian Paul. If it is so obvious to the majority of us posting on this site, those in charge of casting the Bond movies had better take their heads out of the sand and PAY ATTENTION! "Adrian Paul's got it all!" Period.
Wow, a new James Bond! I have been waiting for this since Pierce Brosnan was chosen to be the next "007". For my money, hands down ADRIAN PAUL is the man for the role.
According to some, he does not have the acting talent, that he was alright for a television series. Did Mr. Brosnan have the talent, when he took over the role after starring in a television series? NOT! The movie critics all said as much.
To the producers of the "007" movies, if you have an eye for a sure thing, you will RUN, not walk, a contract to Adrian Paul. Think of Mr. Paul's already large fan base. More than a few of will go see a Bond movie just because Adrian Paul is the star. Borrowing a famous line, "show me the money!"
