Charlize Theron took "center" stage this evening when she won a Golden Globe as Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama. The award was for her role in "Monster." She, hands down, also won our vote for the Rugged Elegance "Best Dressed & Most Soulful" awards, tonight.
Charlize was eloquent, natural, beautiful. She glided to the stage like a ballerina. Once she recovered from whatever Jack Nicholson said to her, she took hold of her award and said, "This is insane. I'm from a farm in South Africa."
Patty Jenkins, the writer and director of "Monster" was notably moved by Theron's kudos. Charlize made it clear that it is thanks to Jenkins that she was standing at the podium tonight.
Theron went on to say, "It was a thrill to get this and a huge surprise. The greatest thing for me is to be able to work as an actor. Every time I get a job, I get to go and do that one thing that satisfies me so completely. It's the ultimate."
Charlize, we loved you in The Italian Job (2003) and The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000).
You have definitely inspired us to go see "Monster" after watching you receive the 61st award for Best Actress in a Dramatic Film from the Hollywood Foreign Press.
Congratulations Charlize! You even brought Jack to his knees.
