Grape Growers Get Creative to Survive

vinegar.gif
Some winemakers are contemplating turning their grapes into vinegar this year due to lack of sales. Still, the main route for growers with unsold grapes is to crush the fruit themselves and make wine.

Press Democrat

Faced with surpluses and no buyers, North Coast farmers scramble to find other options.

My advice is to go ahead and make the wine, using premium yeast and lots of new French oak barrels for aging. Then, in 10 years or so, let's give them a complete and thorough tasting.

Or, if you can make balsamic vinegar that will age 30 years or better from your premium grapes, then please move some of the inventory over to that track. And let's get back in touch.
