The San Diego Zoo's Baby Panda

It's official. It's a boy.

Veterinarians at the San Diego Zoo had their second look yesterday at the panda cub born Aug. 19, and confirmed an earlier suspicion that the youngster is a male.

Yesterday's exam, the second in eight days, lasted six minutes while mother Bai Yun left the birth den for food and water, zoo spokesman Paul Garcia said. The cub now weighs 19 ounces and measures 10 inches from nose to tip of tail.

How can something so large start out so small? Nature is full of miracles!
