As we travel south from Hoor to Copenhagen at about 10:30 pm, the most beautiful full harvest moon appeared on the eastern horizon, just above the flat farmland of Skåne. The moon seems to bulge at the middle; I wonder if this is the result of the light playing tricks in the northern latitudes?
We crossed the Oresund Bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen later in the trip. The bridge, which was completed in 2000, connects Sweden with Denmark and the rest of Europe. It costs 275 SEK (~$30) to cross the bridge.
Tonight it seems as if we are the only ones on the bridge, as the traffic is very light. As we chatted with the toll taker, he said that 20,000 vehicles crossed the bridge yesterday as compared to 13,000 vehicles today.
The bridge drops off into the underwater tunnel as you approach Copenhagen. We've been told that, from the air, it looks as if the bridge simply stops three-quarters of the way across the channel. Perhaps this is the Danish way of ridding themselves of Swedish "invaders!"
Actually, the Danes are way too nice and practical for thoughts such as that one.
